13 DAYS TO RESET
Day 4 – Breathe into yourself
Breath is the single fastest way to connect with our self. The average person breathe’s 17000 to 23000 breaths a day. Unaware. Unnoticed. Atleast most of the time. It is a complex action even though it is an unconscious one. Each breath fills out lungs and the oxygen is carried to every part of our body in a matter of micro seconds. Every cell bathes in this oxygen and in return let’s go of what it does not need anymore – carbon dioxide. It is a vital life process that we take for granted. It is nothing short of a miracle this whole process. And we sometimes forget that it can affect us in so many different ways. For one thing it is basic and vital to our existence. Breathing is key in growth and development. Oxygen is the key ingredient that our cells need for repair and rejuvenation and therefore is key in healing. Our breathing can affect the clarity of our mind as our brain uses 20% of our oxygen intake. It is after all the central headquarter where everything is organized for the whole body. We therefore see that breath is truly an integral element to us and when awareness comes into this process it can be even more powerful to both mind and body. When we breathe our unconscious we are normally breathing shallow breaths. With conscious aware breathing we are able to take in deeper breaths and fill our lungs with more oxygen without working at a high heart-rate (as is the case when we’re doing a high intensity work out). This kind of breathing floods every cell with oxygen rejuvenating and repairing them. Also ensuring we are providing more oxygen to the brain and thus making way for more clarity in our thoughts.
Exercise
Take a moment and fill yourself with vital life force – air, with awareness and intention. It will calm you down if you’re feeling agitated or anxious. It will clear your internal energetic space.
Close your eyes. Take a long deep inhale into your belly as you count slowly to 3. Slowly release the breath as you count to 3. Do this 3 times and feel the difference.
