13 DAYS TO RESET
Day 1 – Why Me?
We are always quick to question ‘why me?’ whenever we are out of our comfort zone. Perhaps it’s time to change our perspective on this. Time to make it more like, ‘So this is happening, can I do something about it? If yes, what can I do?
It’s about getting out of the passenger’s seat and being in the driver’s seat of your life. Being more proactive and doing all that you possibly can to make a change and have some control on yourself. Just as a driver has control of his car…so should you.
It’s about getting out of the victim mode and making a shift in our mind. A shift in the way we think. A shift in our perception. And on our focus.
Focus and Perception are integral. Change your focus, change your life. I’m sure you’ve heard of this saying before. And it is an absolute truth. When we change our focus our perceptions automatically change. It’s like wearing tinted spectacles, the minute you take them off you see things as they are…without the tints that you added. Perception is like that. If you are focusing on inadequacy or lack you will find that tint on everything that you see in your external world. So basically, your internal climate of inadequacy and lack will color your external world. The best example of this is when you are really hungry or on a diet and all of a sudden all you notice everywhere is food… on road signs, on your social media, everywhere! The truth is that you are just perceiving more of it since that’s where you’re focus is at.
So how about we take our attention to those things that will make us better versions of our self. Better yet, the best version of our self.
Exercise
Take a moment to remind yourself of all the strengths that you had discovered about you from a painful experience. If you aren’t already aware of them, take the time to understand what you had learned or are learning through the experience. It could be gratitude for getting past the painful event. It could be an insight to your inner strength and resilience. It could be the virtue of patience, and so on. What have you learned about yourself through the pain?
