Day 5 – Amplify your senses
Senses are our gateway to the world we live in. It’s through sight, sound, smell, touch and taste that we make sense of our reality. It is ‘our’ reality because each of us perceives our world in our own unique way. The best example would be when you are exposed to certain fragrances or even sounds for that matter. Each of us will be able to pick up certain scents or sounds better than others. And it’s probably because we have each had unique experiences in our lives, making way for our unique memories and feelings. Also, depending on where our focus in life is at, it will greatly affect our attention
Exercise
Go for a walk outdoors with the intention of being in a full sensory receiving mode. First, choose, if you can, a location that has some amount of nature – trees, water, plants. Now before you begin that walk remind yourself of your beautiful and magical senses. And be in allowance of receiving sensory inputs. As you go on the walk, notice the intricacies of nature – the sky, clouds, tress, plants, etc.; hear the subtle sounds of nature, if any – rustling of the wind, chirping birds, ocean waves, and so on; smell the smells, if any – salty air of the sea, smell of grass, etc.; and feel the sensations in your body as you walk, the sensation of the friction of the air or wind against your skin, the way your clothes move on your body as you move.
